First Visit

Roger Whalley - Osteopath

What to expect

Your first visit will last for about 1 hour and will include a detailed case history followed by an examination. After discussing your diagnosis and the proposed treatment plan you will have some treatment. If you would like you can have a partner or friend attend your appointment with you, and an adult must attend any appointments for babies and children.

On a first visit you may be asked to undress to your underwear in order to be examined. This allows your joints, muscles etc. to be clearly seen and examined by the osteopath. Depending on your treatment, this may not be necessary at follow-up appointments. Please let us know if you are uncomfortable with this as we can go ahead with most treatment without requiring you to be undressed.

Babies and childrenRoger_Whalley_032

When treating babies and young children, the attending parent or carer will be encouraged to sit close to the child (or in some cases to hold the baby), and you may also wish to bring a favourite toy or book–although we have our own supply as well! There is a secure place to store a pram and there are changing facilities.
